i went horseback riding today with my mom, husband, and brother. the horses were friendly, energetic, and gentle with us, the riders. one thing i did notice, which i'm sure is common with trained trail horses, is that when in line on a trail, they tend to follow behind one another very closely. my horse, Mary, must have had some fascination with the horse's ass (no pun intended) in front of me, because she seemed to feel slighted if she wasn't close enough to goose him. at one point in time the horse preceding mine thought it a wonderful time to poo, at which Mary allowed herself some distance. i didn't blame her.

in other news, matty is staying at my house tonight and we were downstairs earlier playing guitars and talking. he was eating some oreos, and at one point he said, "have you ever thought about how sadistic it is to dunk oreos in milk?" he pointed out that when you fully submerge the sandwich cookie in milk, it releases a steady stream of air bubbles. it's as though you are drowning the cookie. and then you are eating it when it is all squishy. i'm thinking about starting an organization for a cause such as this. it will be named the POW Foundation. Protect Oreos Worldwide.
