it was just recently brought to my attention that i urged readers to notify the "west des moines PUBLIC police department" last night during the freak bat episode. I think that was a typo. I think it is just the "west des moines police department." but it brings up an interesting question. is there any public law enforcement institution in this country that specifies itself as a PUBLIC police department, or PUBLIC law enforcement? and, if so, is that insinuating that there are PRIVATE police departments? and, if THAT is so, where are they and why are they private? hmmm. i'm sure you asked yourself this question too.

just wanted to let you know that i am okay. fortunately for me, bats are nocturnal creatures. this means that if i am able to find the wretched beast before dusk tonight that i should be able to beat it to death with a tennis racket. if anyone knows where bats tend to hide out in large houses, let me know. please, for the LOVE...
