i was thinking yesterday as i was driving to and from the gym how much i associate songs with people that i know. seems like every song i hear nowadays reminds me of someone.

i heard pearl jam's "better man" on the radio twice within a couple hours yesterday and it reminded me of this guy tim i met in abilene at josh's wedding last year. he drove me from the military compound where the reception was at to my car, and i guess somewhere he heard that i loved pearl jam, so he played me the song to impress me or something. which maybe under other circumstances it would have, but he made the huge mistake of talking about past relationships on the first day he met me. not good.

i heard "drops of jupiter" tonight as i was driving home from work. reminds me of sarah goo... i think because the summer that we went to wisconsin together for the first time, she told me she loved that song. also "gold and silver" by stavesacre remind me of her... that's her favorite band.

"i don't wanna miss a thing" reminds me of joe. don't ask me why. because i don't know.

anything off of counting crows' "august and everything after" reminds me of rozi. "anna begins" reminds me of matty because he played it at the show we played in eau claire a few years ago.

"christmas song" by dave matthews... reminds me of jeanna (who loves dave. m.) and matty again, because he is the one who taught me how to play it.

"all my life" by the foo fighters reminds me of rock star. i think because his old band used to have that foo fighters sort of sound.

tracy chapman's "fast car" reminds me of ara. because he has a fast car. and because in a lot of ways the lyrics seem to sound like some of our relationship. also, the deftones song "minerva." i think because he said once that it reminded him of me: "i get all... numb... when she sings it's over... and it brings my knees to the earth."

john mayer's "3X5" and coldplay's "shiver" remind me of jake for some reason. and they did even before we played the show.

"my name is jonas" by weezer reminds me of doug chambers. i have no idea why.
"say it ain't so" reminds me of mikey olson because we played it together at the show in wisconsin.

there are so many others, but i was just amused thinking about this yesterday, because these songs are sort of like the soundtrack to my life... when i can't be with these people, they are around in the song. kinda fun.

to bed i go.
