i think that after any break up, God should declare nothing but bright, sunny days for the following month afterwards.
i've been thinking a lot about break ups lately, with special consideration given to mine, and i have noticed that the end of october is quite possibly the worst possible time to break up for a girl. all of the factors that i am about to mention probably do not affect guys as much as they do girls, but for women they are Big Deals.
1. it's right around Daylight Savings Time. Less light hours in the day make everyone more depressed until the Christmas lights start coming out.
2. it's too close to the holidays. Christmas, New Year's, even Thanksgiving, are all holidays that are much more pleasant with a special someone. now i can't give or recieve a romantic gift, or dance with someone to overplayed christmas songs. i get to sit at home, watch snow fall, and listen to Mariah Carey's Christmas album ALL BY MYSELF.
3. it's too close to my birthday, which really sucked last year.
4. it's too close to HIS birthday, which is next week.
5. there isn't enough time between now and february to healthfully and successfully recover from this break-up AND snag another dude so that valentine's day will not be spent alone AGAIN (i say this partly in jest, but really, being "alone" during the holidays is getting old real fast).
so i, stephanie, declare that if you, the reader, want to break up with someone, you should do it late march, early april. that is the best time of year for a break up, particularly if you live in the midwest. because the increased amount of daylight, as well as warmer temperatures and coming end of the school year are all things that those involved in the break up can look forward to. you are far enough away from the Christmas season, you've passed all the major holidays, it's just an all around good time to break up if you have to.
i've been watching a lot of sex and the city in the past few weeks, and naturally when you start watching a lot of a show you can often start identifying pretty closely with the characters. i would have to say that after successfully completing the first four seasons, rock star was my Big and Ara was my Aiden. also, after some careful thought, i think that:
Helen is like Carrie.
Jeanna is like Miranda.
Erica is like Samantha.
I am like Charlotte.
(all without the sex, of course)
us four are not as close as the ladies in the show, but i think each of our personalities and mannerisms bear some resemblance to one of them.
in other news, and really the most important news that i have today, is that my aunt mary, who is definitely one of the coolest aunts ever, has unfortunately lost her home due to the fires in san diego. she and her family were evacuated from their home on sunday morning, and found out later that it had been destroyed. it sounds as though they are coping remarkably well for such a huge loss, but i just wanted to mention it for those of you who pray... i'm sure it's still traumatic.
have a good day.
