i have this nail polish on my toenails that really needs to come off. it's been on my toes since the fourth of July. don't you think that's a little gross? on independence day this year i was at cornerstone, which is this big music festival deal in illinois, and i decided that it would be great to be a walking tribute to our country. i bought a nylon 3X5 foot flag, and had some friends pin it around me like a dress. then i went to old navy and found flag accessories-- flip flops, nail polish, fake EYELASHES, etc. anyway, the nail polish was a clear polish with red white and blue sparkles in it. problem is, it won't come off with nail polish remover. which is unfortunate. this means that i have to take time out of my day to sit and pick at it and gross people out until it's gone. who wants to sanction time into their day to pick off their toenail polish? if someone would actually like to do this for me, let me know and maybe i'll hire you.

today was the first day of school. I had two classes: church history and intro to hebrew. i learned how to write "burger king", "whopper", "mcdonald's", "mcdavid's" (israel's kosher version of mcdonald's...hahaha), "coca cola", and "super size" in Hebrew today. you don't know how helpful this information is. i looked in a concordance today, and, unbeknownst to me, "whopper" is found in the Bible 47 times.

i also went to the Y today. when i was in high school i used to work at one of the public libraries in omaha, and i thought that I had seen my share of strange characters. but the Y has a greater number AND higher calibur of weird people. today there was this man who was trying his hand at a rowing machine and he was having a rather heated conversation with himself about nothing in particular. it wasn't so much the fact that he was talking to himself that caught my attention, but that he was talking in a voice that resembled Mickey Mouse. very high pitched and docile, it's hard to imagine talking to yourself in anger with a voice such as this. and i'm pretty sure it wasn't his natural voice, because ten minutes later i heard him singing a heartwarming rendition of "Monster Mash" in a much lower pitch. pretty awesome, if you ask me. sometimes i see this woman lifting weights who is probably in her late 20's. she's attractive and in good shape, but she's very tiny. probably 5'2" and i can't imagine her weighing much more than 100 or so. anyway, she comes in with her headphones and radio, and while she's doing her weight routine she's totally rocking out to her music. singing along and everything, like there's no one around, which in and of itself is hilarious and i have no problem with it. she sings and flexes in the mirror to make sure her muscles haven't imploded. the problem is that she's also very aggressive. if you come within a 5 foot radius of the weights she is using she gets all defensive, like a goose guarding it's young. actually, i think she even tried to peck at my leg once for walking too near to her. sometimes when i see her practicing her punches i just want to go over to her and push her into the wall. not out of hostility or anything, just because she acts like she is so tough but probably weighs as much as my head. i would just want to see what would happen. that sounds a little psychotic. don't tell anyone.

i'm about ready to head off to bed, but i wanted to take a little time and advertise for people i think are cool. it would have been cooler of me to non-chalantly insert their links into my blog, but i didn't think of it tonight. if you're reading this, i think you would enjoy Chris' page. he makes me laugh often, and he writes much more eloquently than i do. secondly, i think you should keep an eye on Michael's page. Michael is a Houston-based polka band, and Michael himself is dead sexy, so keep an eye on their page once they get it updated. also, visit Brotherluck's site and order their cd. this band also rocks my face off. great music, great guys, and they just won a BOTB at a Houston Hard Rock Cafe last week. i think both are going to be around for awhile. thank you, goodnight.
