the title of this post is:
"things you don't yet know about me (but soon will)"
OR
"my visit to the chiropractor"
well, until this morning i hadn't shaved my legs for probably about six weeks. i know you probably think that's gross, but really... what's the point? it's winter time, no one SEES my legs except me (and people at the gym, who i'm not trying to impress anyway), so why spend extra time and money on razors when it's really unnecessary?
well this morning, i couldn't really take it anymore. i started shaving after washing my hair. you probably know this, but it takes longer to shave when you've let your hair grow out for awhile... and, well, before i could get to my second leg, the hot water ran out. so i decided i would finish up the job at a later time.
normally, this would not be a problem at all.
however, i decided to go to the chiropractor today because my neck has been killing me lately. in my 2.5 years in chicago, i have never found a chiropractor here because i really haven't had too many back problems. but, i decided i needed to find one. so i went today, and dr. collins made me dress in a very flattering hospital-like gown, took new x-rays, asked me lots of diagnostic questions, and-- you guessed it-- checked my reflexes. my knee reflexes. my one smooth knee, one hairy knee reflexes. that was pretty embarrassing. i wanted to explain, but it just sounded like such a ridiculous story that i figured i would leave him wondering.
then we looked at my x-rays. and guess what!
i have birth defects!
it was sort of cool... i had heard most of this stuff before, but i hadn't seen x-rays of myself for a few years, and i felt a sense of awe looking at them, i guess just thinking about how intricately and carefully God made the human body... and i wondered what birth defects i had were congenital and which were just mutations in my DNA when i was being formed. i was curious as to which bone structural traits i inherited from my mom, which i inherited from my dad.
what birth defects, you ask? well, nothing real exciting. some of the bones in my spine are just abnormally shaped, or there are extra segments in some places. one of my legs is a centimeter shorter than the other.
but the coolest birth defect i have is that my tailbone is abnormal. see, normally a tailbone is curved, like a hook. but when the chiropractor looked at my x-rays, he said, "you have the straightest tailbone i've ever seen."
why is this a great birth defect?
because my abnormal tailbone is the reason why i have a nice butt.
