so i found the answer to the why trees' leaves change colors question. someone at starbucks told me. you see a tree's sap is its life support. it travels to all parts of the tree providing nutrients and essential elements for life. when the temperature drops, the sap becomes more viscous and cannot travel as readily to the branches and twigs to supply the leaves with the nutrition they need, so they die. good story.
i don't really have much to write today. i haven't done anything extremely exciting this weekend. i worked about 13 hours between fri. and yesterday. that kind of sucked but ah well. yesterday helen and i went to evanston just to drive around for a few minutes. wow. i couldn't get over how beautiful the trees were. evanston is a riiiiich suburb of chicago where the northwestern campus is located and i was just floored by the beauty of fall. i wanted to go back today and take pictures by myself but it's not sunny out today and i have quite a bit of homework to do. so maybe some other time this week. i went to the Y for a couple hours this afternoon. my arms feel like jello. mmmm jello. speaking of homework, i need to get back to it. reading aristotle, that is. which is kind of exciting. he's a pretty cool dude. check him out sometime.
