it's been awhile. almost a week actually. this weekend was sort of crazy. dad came in on thursday, jeremy and matt came on sat. we went to an echocast/underoath/embodyment/stavesacre/living sacrifice show in elgin on saturday night. if you're sad because you missed it, don't be. for the most part it sucked. elgin is a little city about 20 miles outside of chicago. i had to work until 6:30 so i showed up late. and i'd never driven to elgin before and i didn't have directions to the place where the show was at. and i didn't know who to call to get directions, so i just decided i would get to elgin and stop at a gas station or something. so my friend jason who is a human map gave me general directions to downtown elgin, and i follow them and randomly exit at one of the four downtown exits. and completely by coincidence or by divine providence or something, i end up on the VERY STREET of the auditorium where the show is taking place. in a place i've never been, trying to find a place that i don't have the address to, and i just happen to stumble upon it. that was pretty cool. and you couldn't miss the place because there were a large number of non-conformists all congregating outside. that's what's so funny about going to "hardcore" shows-- you get all of the people wanting to be individuals under one roof and watch them go at each other. then you find out that really they aren't trendsetters. and you feel bad for them because they are so caught up in the scene that they are living a lie. so the only band that didn't suck in my opinion was stavesacre. stavesacre was pretty awesome, actually. i highly recommend them.

more later. perhaps then my brain will be functioning well enough to tell stories of what happened this weekend.
